The State Eligibility Test (SET), also known as the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET), is a competitive examination conducted by the SLET Commission, Assam (NE Region). The primary objective of this exam is to identify eligible candidates for the position of Assistant Professor at universities and colleges within the jurisdiction of the SLET Commission, much like the National Eligibility Test (NET) organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Eligibility Criteria for SLET 2025
Age Limit:
There is no upper age limit to appear for the SET exam. Candidates who qualify the exam are eligible to apply for the position of Assistant Professor within the jurisdiction of the SLET Commission's Member States.
Educational Qualification:
- For General/Unreserved/EWS candidates: At least 55% marks in the Master's Degree or equivalent from UGC-recognized universities/institutions.
- For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD candidates: At least 50% marks in the Master’s Degree or equivalent examination.
Candidates who are in their final year of the Master’s Degree or those whose results are awaited can also apply for the SET exam.

Exam Pattern and Paper Details
The SET 2025 will consist of two papers:
